Scottish football ....dead in the water
I grew up in the 70's watching Davie Cooper, jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish, graham souness etc and cannot believe that we no longer have talented kids especially when the Scottish youth team made the final stages of the last European championships. So what's wrong? Surely the short termism of the premier league in Scotland (joke) whereby the big 2 buy anyone half decent and then stick them in the reserves whilst journeymen fill the first team has got to be questioned. I have watched the big 2 embarass themselves for years playing european teams whose technical ability is light years above them and yet we persevere with the image of the 'plucky' scottish mentality. Croatia, Sweden and the Czech republic can all produce worthy teams without the resources we have so again it shows the limitation of either the coaching (probably) or the player's mental strength. I watched with disbelief at how rangers played with 10 men behind the ball for a whole season including a European final! ... Tell players to play like they are crap and soon they'll believe it. I would rather watch talented kids playing with skill than the dross dished out every week in the SPL. I don't watch it anymore....

Poor Rory!!
I just might be the heartless bastard but we just witnessed the cruel but natural consequence of sport. He is a great talent who will win his fair share of both titles and money but the real challenge for him is to get back out and play. I think his age will help him recover quicker because this is his first setback.. Look how Tiger has imploded and when the Chips were down on Sunday came up short (again).
The theatre of it all was brilliant and the reason why we all watch sport waiting for the point where someone loses, that's what it's all about and why sports with a clear winner always do it for me over the ' judged ' ones.
I hope Rory has what it takes and I believe he does. Without losing the winning isn't as sweet and he will come out of it a more experienced player capable of drawing on the experience.
Just don't ask him how he feels for a couple of weeks!
